Foley-Safe 2.0 is an innovative advanced securement and stabilizer that protects the patient with multiple layers of protection.

First layer - anchoring mechanism

The first layer of protection is designed to address the hanging urine bag issue. The catheter is inserted into the Foley-Safe shell which is placed on the patient’s thigh. A medical adhesive patch anchors the device to the patient thus preventing all the pulling that the free urine bag can cause.

The patient is free from the urine bag pulling, free from pain, free to be active, shameless, and full of self-confidence, and have a full and comfortable quality of life.

This adhesive patch can stay on the patient for a period between 3 days and up to two weeks.

If the medical team decides to change the catheter, it is possible to open Foley-safe, change the catheter to the patient, and place the new catheter in the same Foley-Safe.

If, for any reason, the medical team needs to replace Foley-Safe without changing the catheter, it is possible to open Foley-Safe take no more adhesive strips that don’t really anchor the catheter.

Second layer - smart anti-slide mechanism

The second layer of protection is designed to address the minor movements of the catheter in the urethra issue. The catheter is inserted into the Foley-Safe shell, which includes an innovative smart Anti-slide mechanism. This mechanism anchors the Foley catheter inside the device in a way that doesn’t block the urine from flowing through the catheter on one hand but on the other hand, prevents forces activated outside the catheter from being transferred to the other side of the device.

The prevention of small movements of the catheter inside the urethra reduces significantly the chance of Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI), thus reducing pain, and saving the need to treat and address new infections and patient discomfort.

The medical cost saving is not to be taken lightly. Foley-Safe saves hundreds of dollars in hospitalization, doctor’s and nurse’s time, drugs, etc. Moreover, reducing the chance of CAUTI reduces the chance of more serious complications, thus reducing the death toll number each year associated with CAUTI. The patient is free from the irritating rubbing in the urethra, free from pain, free to be active, shameless, and full of self-confidence, and have a full and comfortable quality of life.

Third layer – sensitive cutting mechanism

The third layer of protection is designed to address the accidental strong pulling of the catheter from the urethra and bladder issue. Once the catheter is inserted into the Foley-Safe shell, the patient is fully protected from strong pulling by Foley-safe which includes an innovative sensitive cutting mechanism. Minor movements and pulling are absorbed by the two first layers of protection of Foley-Safe.

Yet, if a very strong pulling is being done by the patient or by a medical team member, or maybe by a random visitor, by accident, or by choice, the third safety mechanism will be activated instantly cutting completely through the catheter tube. As a result of that cut, the inflated retention balloon inside the patient’s bladder will deflate and will allow the remaining catheter to be safely removed thus avoiding serious injury, with no harm to the bladder and the urethra.

A small amount of urine and salt water from the cut catheter will show on the patient’s bed, indicating that the device was activated, the patient is saved, and it is time to replace the catheter to the patient, along with a new protective Foley-Safe device. Once the third layer is activated, you will know that Foley-Safe just saved another patient from a severe injury that would probably get him into surgery and long-term rehabilitation, in the easy case, and even saved the patient from possible death, in the more grave cases. If the cutting mechanism was activated, or if the safety pin was harmed in any way, the device needs to be replaced by a new one.
