Cathetrix is accelerating its global expansion with a new distribution agreement with Shegal Group to promote its catheter solutions across Latin America.
The collaboration will focus on key markets including Bolivia, Panama, Honduras, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Guatemala. By combining Cathetrix’s product innovation with Shegal’s regional distribution capabilities, the partnership is designed to drive faster market access and stronger commercial reach.
Latin America represents a high-growth opportunity in urological care. According to Grand View Research, the regional urinary catheter market was valued at over $500 million in 2024 and is projected to grow steadily in the coming years, supported by demographic trends and expanding healthcare access.
Countries such as Colombia and Costa Rica are investing in healthcare infrastructure, while others are increasing access to essential urology services, creating favorable conditions for market entry.
Several structural trends are shaping demand across the region. Aging populations and the rising prevalence of conditions such as urinary incontinence, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and neurogenic bladder are driving long-term growth. At the same time, healthcare systems are placing greater emphasis on improving patient outcomes and reducing complications, particularly catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), which remain a significant clinical and economic burden.
Another key shift is the gradual expansion of home-based care. While hospital settings continue to dominate, there is increasing demand for solutions that support safe and effective long-term use outside clinical environments. This is creating new expectations for catheter products, such as Foley-Safe, including ease of use, reliability, and improved patient comfort.
Within this evolving landscape, Foley catheters remain central to urological care. Healthcare providers are increasingly seeking solutions that not only perform reliably but also contribute to better patient experiences and reduced risk of complications.
Shegal’s strong regional presence and distribution network position it as a strategic partner for Cathetrix. Its understanding of local procurement systems, regulatory environments, and customer needs will support effective market penetration across multiple countries.
As part of its broader global expansion strategy, Cathetrix will be exhibiting at the World Health Expo (WHX) 2026, taking place June 17-19, 2026, in Miami, Florida. Visitors are invited to meet the team at pod Y106 in the Future-X zone to learn more about its latest innovations in urological care.
