Cathetrix TGA Approval as Its Expands Its Activities in Australian market
Cathetrix’s next-generation catheter stabilization device, Foley Safe 2.0, presented by FutureMed Global at the ANZUNS Annual Education Day 2025.
Brisbane, Australia, September 8, 2025 — Cathetrix, a pioneering developer of smart catheter stabilization devices, has reached another key milestone with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approval of its Foley Safe catheter stabilization device in Australia.
The registration authorizes the company’s local distributor, FutureMed Global Pty, to market and supply the device across Australia. This recognition by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care marks an important step toward expanding patient safety solutions for urology professionals nationwide.
Recently, FutureMed Global presented Foley Safe 2.0, Cathetrix’s next-generation catheter stabilization device, at the ANZUNS Annual Education Day 2025, held at Victoria Park Golf Club in Brisbane. The event brought together leading urology nurses and healthcare professionals from across Australia for a day of engaging presentations, expert discussions, and networking opportunities.
The conference covered a wide spectrum of clinical topics, from renal calculi and men’s health physiotherapy to leadership in nurse practice, creating the perfect platform for introducing Cathetrix’s innovative approach to catheter safety.
Foley Safe 2.0 drew strong attention from attending urologists and clinicians. The device is specifically engineered to address one of the most persistent yet under-recognized challenges in urology: catheter displacement and associated complications. It is designed to:
- Secure indwelling catheters and prevent unwanted movement.
- Reduce the risk of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).
- Protect patients by safely severing the catheter in the event of accidental pulling, thereby preventing urethral or bladder trauma.
With an estimated one in four hospitalized patients worldwide requiring an indwelling catheter, and unintentional catheter dislodgement occurring in up to 17 percent of cases, Foley Safe 2.0 provides a critical layer of protection that enhances both patient safety and caregiver confidence.
Distribution of Foley Safe 2.0 in Australia is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting Cathetrix’s growing international presence and commitment to improving urological care.
